    DA VINCI XI ROBOT

Human controlled. Robot assisted. Donor funded.

As part of our Centre of Excellence in Robotics project, we’re on a mission to fully fund a second da Vinci robot for the QEII — transforming surgical care and increasing critical access for cancer patients.

WHY DONORS ARE NEEDED.

No longer a futuristic notion, robotics are rapidly transforming the delivery of health care around the world. The QEII is no exception. In 2019, QEII Foundation donors unlocked access to Atlantic Canada’s first surgical robotics technology: the da Vinci X robot, treating prostate, kidney, gynecological and ear, nose and throat (ENT) cancers at the QEII.

Fast forward to today, the QEII is currently the only hospital in Canada that’s home to six surgical robots for various surgical disciplines; five of which are only a reality thanks to QEII Foundation donor support.

With the support of generous donors, we’re laser-focused on our next game-changing project: a $3.8-million initiative that will fund the QEII’s next surgical robot – the da Vinci Xi – and continue to build momentum for establishing our nation’s first Centre of Excellence in Robotics.

Your gift today will help equip QEII teams with the technology they need to deliver the most innovative and advanced life-changing care – building a true Centre of Excellence in Robotics.

What donors will make possible.

This project is so much more than expanding the QEII’s fleet of surgical robots. Here’s some of the key benefits when you support this project:

robot assisted surgery icon

Increase the number of robot-assisted surgeries performed each week — ensuring faster treatment access and improving wait times.

target icon

Offer shorter hospital stays, less pain, less blood loss, fewer post-operative complications, less risk of infection and reduced scarring.

hospital building icon

Recruit and retain medicine’s best surgeons and healthcare teams.

thoracic surgery icon

Enable the QEII to offer robot-assisted thoracic surgeries, treat more gynecologic cancers and precancerous conditions, and expand to other care areas of greatest need.

clock icon

Enable faster healing, recovery times and a quicker return to work and day-to-day activities.
