    QEII Patient Assistance Fund

    QEII healthcare providers can apply for grants of up to $1,000 on behalf of patients facing financial difficulties.

When someone is facing illness or injury, money should be the last of their worries. The QEII Patient Assistance Fund helps patients pay for amenities and services — necessities that can create financial burden during an illness.

SUPPORTING PATIENTS WHEN THEY NEED IT MOST

Healthcare providers/managers within the Nova Scotia Health Authority are eligible to apply for a grant of up to $1,000 per year (maximum lifetime grant of $2,000) on behalf of a QEII patient (regardless of the patient’s location of residence).

Eligible amenities and necessities include:

  • Rent/mortgage
  • Lodging (during healthcare appointments)
  • Home utilities (such as power, home heating oil, water bills or phone services)
  • Transportation costs (travel required for healthcare appointments)
  • Home medical equipment, medical supplies or medicine not covered by a current medical plan

Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis and will be reviewed approximately twice a month until all funds have been allocated for the year.

The QEII Patient Assistance Fund is fully funded by donors. Their generosity helps patients focus on what’s most important – their health. Since the fund was created in 2022, more than $250,000 has been granted to support QEII patients and their families.
