A word from the QEII Foundation

Welcome to 2026! A new calendar year can often feel like a fresh start. A time for reflection and a natural time for goal setting.

As I reflect on the year behind us, I am reminded of the power of our community to impact health care for Nova Scotians and Atlantic Canadians. From enhancing women’s gynecologic health, to improved cancer and cardiac imaging, to healthcare bursaries supporting students who reflect the diversity of our community and so much more, the QEII Foundation has our generous donor community to thank.
And, as we plan for the year ahead, we continue to think about the needs of health care and how philanthropy can continue to make a meaningful difference. Guided by our mission and values, we are setting the goals for the year ahead and focusing on the outcomes we will achieve together with our community.

Increasing access to care. Introducing new technology. Decreasing wait times. Offering more personalized treatments. Bringing care closer to home. Supporting recruitment and retention. All in the name of improving patient outcomes.

This year is extra special for us. Our strategic plan is coming to an end, presenting the opportunity to outline what comes next for our organization and the impact we want to have.

For the QEII Foundation, our strategic plan is more than just a document. It is the guiding force that aligns all our activities for greater purpose. It’s a roadmap of how we move from the current state to a future desired state with transformed health and transformed lives as our north star.

Our long-term planning could not be more serendipitous with the monumental opportunity unfolding with QEII Renew. A new QEII is coming that will transform the patient experience and increase capacity, as the province plans for the needs of our population.

As I reflect and look ahead on the year to come, I am energized and excited to dive into long-term planning opportunities alongside our current work to make immediate impact on health care.

Our $100-million We Are campaign continues to raise funds for critical cancer care technology, MRI transportable units, surgical robots and more.

I encourage you to get involved with us. Learn more about what we are raising funds for and make a donation. Or start your own fundraiser for a healthcare need that is near and dear to your heart. Share your patient story with us. Follow our social channels and engage in the conversation.

Health care is a common thread that unites us all. I wish you great health and happiness in the year ahead.
