E-Mental health is about investing in a solution, not just technology.
WHY:
Doing better for the communities we serve
The added stress and pressures of COVID-19 have spiked demand for mental health supports throughout Nova Scotia.
Now more than ever, the need for innovative and accessible mental health tools are crucial as many families experience worry, anxiety and uncertainty in their everyday and professional lives.
Prior to COVID-19, wait times and access to care were two of the biggest challenges facing mental health service delivery in Nova Scotia. We need to do better for our communities, especially during these uncertain times – and we have the solution to make that happen.
THE SOLUTION:
Free, online mental health tools, when and where Nova Scotians need it
In partnership with the Nova Scotia Health Authority and Mental Health Commission of Canada, this e-Mental health initiative will introduce and expand a suite of e-Mental health treatment options and resources. These virtual tools will be available to all Nova Scotians, free of charge – providing immediate and critical access for those experiencing mild to moderate mental illness.
This means that depending on a patient’s needs, they could access customized treatment modules, virtual care consultations, weekly video meetings with a therapist, practice tools and more.
Introducing these technology-based solutions will help ensure the right tools are in place to support all Nova Scotians, including youth and frontline healthcare teams before they reach a critical stage.
Benefits include:
reducing wait times;
offering same-day access to care;
preventing escalation of common disorders;
identifying and treating early onset disorders;
removing language barriers and stigma;
offering patient anonymity; and
providing 24-7 access in rural and underserved areas.
E-Mental health care delivery is here to stay. Your support of this initiative will help Nova Scotia pave the way for new and innovative solutions to provide essential mental health services – in a time of social distancing and beyond.
