    Comfort & Care Grant Program

    An opportunity for staff and physicians at the QEII and community-based program to identify places where comfort can be improved upon.

Comfort & Care grants are intended for projects that would not typically receive funding from the health centre’s operating or capital budgets. Grants are awarded to projects that demonstrate direct benefit to patients and/or their families.

Tangible Enhancements, Extraordinary Impact

All QEII departments and programs and Nova Scotia community-based adult programs and clinics are eligible to apply for grants of up to $5,000 – awarded to projects that demonstrate direct benefit to patients and/or their families. These may include patient amenities, resource materials, or furnishings – to name a few. They are not intended for computers, research projects, education or part-time staff costs.

Applications are now closed and will reopen in the spring of 2027.

Applications are now open for Comfort & Care grants of up to $5,000. Nova Scotia Health staff at the QEII, the Nova Scotia Hospital, or a Nova Scotia community-based program can apply.

We welcome all Nova Scotia Health staff who work at the QEII Health Sciences Centre or Nova Scotia Hospital, or a community-based program or clinic within Nova Scotia to apply.

2026 Funded Projects

As of 2026, the Comfort & Care grants have disbursed $2.375 million to support items that might otherwise not be funded from existing health center budgets with grants of $5000 or less. Grants are awarded in the categories of Patient Comforts, Patient and Family Education, Patient and Family Furnishings and Patient Recreation and Activities. Below is a summary of the grants awarded.

This was a unique year with the launch of One Patient One Record, where we delayed the launch of the application, which usually happens in April, to start June 1, with another adjustment of a longer application period of six weeks instead of three weeks.
