A word from the QEII Foundation
Exciting things are happening in health care. If you’ve been in peninsular Halifax recently, you may have noticed the landscape has changed.
The old Robie Street parking structure at the QEII Health Sciences Centre has been removed to make way for one million square feet of new space to transform health care for Nova Scotia’s growing and aging population.
After several years of careful and considerate planning, construction for the Halifax Infirmary Expansion Project — a QEII Renew partnership between the Government of Nova Scotia, Nova Scotia Health and Build Nova Scotia — is well underway.
This project will deliver a modern acute care tower with 216 beds, 16 operating rooms, an intensive care unit, and a new, larger emergency department. QEII Renew will enhance access to care, replace aging infrastructure, and support clinical excellence for future generations of Nova Scotians.
Connecting to the QEII’s existing Halifax Infirmary building, the new Acute Care Tower will ensure patients receive care in a timely and efficient manner, enhance surgical capacity and improve delivery of care. By optimizing space and implementing operational efficiencies, the expanded facilities will support improved access to services.
The modern workplace for clinicians and other healthcare professionals will include new equipment and advanced technology that will support the recruitment and retention of the world-leading physicians and staff.
Imagine a bright, new QEII purpose-built for today and tomorrow — complete with the very latest technology that saves lives. Advanced equipment that is leading the world in patient care. Research collaborations happening in every corner are making life-changing discoveries.
These are the possibilities that inspired our We Are campaign.
As the new QEII continues to visibly take shape, the QEII Foundation remains steadfast in its mission to raise $100 million to deliver enhanced care in the new building — transforming health care for Atlantic Canadians.
From advanced technology to personalized treatments, from vital research and innovation to patient care items, the QEII Foundation has aspirational goals to advance health care at the QEII — today and in the future.
As our community faces global uncertainty and challenges, we understand your priority needs to be you and your family. If you’re in the position to help, we invite you to join us on our mission to take health care to new heights.
