QEII Times: A word from the QEII Foundation

2024 Diwali Celebration at the QEII Foundation

We are traditionally a modest bunch. Usually quite humble, intentionally shining the spotlight elsewhere.

And then there are times when I want to shine a floodlight on the QEII Foundation, as our buttons are bursting with pride from the incredible news that was shared earlier this month.

The QEII Foundation has been named by Atlantic Business Magazine as one of the Best Places to Work in Atlantic Canada. I have been told there were 245 nominations from various workplaces that likely all deserve to be recognized.

We are overjoyed to officially be named as a ‘Best Place to Work’. I have the dual privilege of working on projects that are advancing health care for our province, and I get to spend my days with 40 colleagues who are the most dedicated, inspiring group of people I have met.

Each of their contributions, collectively, make the QEII Foundation what it is.

On top of that, the QEII Foundation is supported by a wonderful group of volunteer board members and committee members who share our passion for improving health care.

It doesn’t get much better than that.

We do say there is a bit of a secret sauce at the QEII Foundation. Some may say it is how we start every staff meeting with kudos for team members. Perhaps it is our tradition of ringing an old school bell when we have news to share. Possibly it’s our all-staff surveys or sessions to gather feedback on how we are doing as a team.

Or maybe it is how we celebrate and honour all the life moments experienced by staff.

Because we know, at the end of day when all else is stripped away, health matters most and cannot be taken for granted.

The health of our community and the health of our team. This is the QEII Foundation’s focus.

We are in the thick of our $100-million We Are campaign, the largest healthcare fundraising campaign in Atlantic Canada. And when we plan the celebration event after reaching that ambitious goal, each and every talented team member will know they played a part in healthcare history.

And the great news is that every community member can also be part of the QEII Foundation team and make heath care impact. Donors’ investments are making health care better, and the patients and families we are helping fuel our passion every day.

We do not take one of the ‘Best Places to Work in Atlantic Canada’ title lightly. We will continue to put the work in to honour this recognition and ensure that we are at our best so that we can continue to make a big impact on health care at the QEII.
