Diagnostic Imaging is part of the QEII cancer care team that helps diagnose many cancers in the province by using a PET-CT machine.
PET-CT’s are crucial in a patient’s cancer diagnosis as it helps healthcare teams determine where cancer is located, if it has spread, how well they’re responding to treatment, and what the likelihood is of their cancer returning. The QEII has the only PET-CT in Nova Scotia, which means we see patients from every community across our province.
A new PET-CT is scheduled to arrive at the QEII this spring, as the current PET-CT is nearing the end of its lifespan. However, with the support of donors like you, we have a unique opportunity to come together as a community to upgrade this equipment to the newest, leading edge PET-CT technology available today.
With your support, cancer patients will have access to the Maritimes’ first and only extended field-of-view PET-CT - the most advanced and effective technology of its kind. This technology will allow us to produce cancer images that show tiny differences we’ve never been able to see before.
