A word from the QEII Foundation
For 30 years, the QEII Foundation team has had the honour and privilege of seeing generosity impact health care every day. Committed donors, community partners and volunteers come together because they believe in something deeply human: that every patient deserves the most advanced and compassionate health care, when they need it most.
At the heart of that commitment are the healthcare teams who bring it to life. They are the nurses, physicians and surgeons who make complex decisions with steady focus, the therapists who help patients take their next breath or next steps, the technicians who find answers, the housekeepers who protect safe spaces, the social workers who stay calm in uncertain moments, the porters who ensure patients and supplies get to where they need to be — stat.
Every member of the team matters. And every team member plays an important role in the delivery of health care for Nova Scotians.
They are the hands that steady us, the voices that reassure us, and the hearts that keep showing up.
They’re up before sunrise, through long nights, during holidays, storms and seasons of change. They hold hands, explain next steps, listen closely, act quickly and offer comfort in ways that patients and families remember for the rest of their lives. They learn the latest techniques. Implement new systems. Are committed to finding answers. They make the extraordinary look ordinary.
To the healthcare teams at the QEII Health Sciences Centre and across the province: we see your dedication day after day, caring for strangers as if they were family. We honour your resilience. We are grateful for the compassion you bring to moments of fear, recovery, grief, relief and joy. You are the steady hands and generous hearts that help carry patients and families forward.
