In 2012, the QEII Foundation celebrated the opening of the James and Edna Claydon Radiation Treatment Clinic thanks to the Cancer Never Waits campaign. Aimed at reducing wait times, improving treatment options and saving lives, the over $20-million expansion to the cancer centre was an exciting addition.
Many donors contributed to Cancer Never Waits, which raised over $4-million to purchase new equipment and fund the building of the new clinic to address the need for an updated facility in the region. The project was a joint initiative between the QEII Foundation, goverment (both provincial and federal) and Capital Health.
Each year over 2,000 Nova Scotians receive radiation treatment therapy at the QEII. The QEII Foundation continues to be part of the improvements in cancer care treatment at the QEII.
We are extremely grateful to all donors and to James and Edna (George) Claydon, who donated $1.5-million, to make this project possible. This project shows the community shares our vision of better health.
