The QEII Patient Essentials Fund grants $1,000 to QEII healthcare providers to help patients access essential items during their care journey.

Providing essential items to QEII patients

Generously supported by QEII Foundation donors, the QEII Patient Essentials Fund provides immediate access to gift cards for patients. Distributed by healthcare providers, $50 in gift cards for gas, groceries and pharmacies are available.

Applications are now open for Q2/2025. We welcome all Nova Scotia Health staff who work at the QEII or a Nova Scotia community-based program to apply for a $1,000 grant.

This year, we’ve refreshed and streamlined our QEII Patient Essentials grant program to offer greater, immediate support to patients at a time when they need it most. The individual value of gift cards has doubled from $25 to $50 and we’ve increased the number of gift cards a healthcare provider can receive throughout the year.

By putting gift cards into the hands of healthcare providers, the urgent, essential needs of patients can be addressed.

IMPACT

The QEII Patient Essentials Fund is fully funded by generous donors. Their support enhances the patient experience and provides a kind gesture during a person’s healthcare journey. Helping patients access essential items helps them focus on what’s most important — their health.

The Patient Essentials Fund touches patients across all care areas, from rehabilitation to cancer care and mental health. Since the fund was established in 2021, thousands of gift cards have been provided to patients through healthcare teams, with 3,583 gift cards distributed in 2024.
