Bringing Atlantic Canada’s first
hybrid operating room to the QEII

At the QEII Health Sciences Centre, we don’t just meet standards – we set them. Your investment today will help create Atlantic Canada’s first hybrid operating room, a superior operating suite that allows our world-class teams to deliver the best and most innovative care available.

Why QEII Patients need a hybrid OR?

The QEII Health Sciences Centre needs a hybrid operating room for the thousands of Atlantic Canadian patients it serves each day; the reasons why are clear. A hybrid OR reduces the invasiveness of traditional surgical procedures – resulting in shorter recovery times, smaller incisions, less stress on the heart, and less trauma and discomfort for patients.

A hybrid OR allows specialists from several areas to work together to provide the best patient care, in one place – diagnosing, treating and intervening all at the same time. This is especially important when treating trauma patients or if an emergency situation arises in the OR; patients will not need to be transferred between health centre floors and care teams, saving critical time when it matters most.

The QEII Foundation is on a journey to bring Atlantic Canada’s first hybrid OR to the QEII. The cost of this transformation is $5-million.

From the Heart

About From the Heart

Atlantic Canada’s transformational heart health campaign

In just one short year, phase one of the QEII Foundation’s From the Heart campaign raised over $4.5-million to fund a new cardiac catheterization suite (cath lab), technology to improve outcomes for heart health patients, and an innovation fund to fuel cutting-edge research. These funds came from a community of donors whose philanthropic support will impact the thousands of Atlantic Canadians who require life-saving cardiac and vascular care at the QEII.

While there is much to celebrate with the completion of phase one of the From the Heart campaign, we know that we can make an even bigger, transformational change. Great change only comes by thinking big and having bold, ambitious dreams. The QEII’s heart health leaders have a vision and we invite you to play a pivotal role in advancing care.

Together, let’s bring a hybrid OR to the QEII
