Innovate heart health at the QEII Health Sciences Centre

The highest rates of cardiovascular disease in Canada.
Thousands of life-saving heart procedures at the QEII each year.
The time to innovate heart health care is now.

Join a community of QEII Heart Innovators who are coming together to fund a project that will change the lives of QEII patients living with a heart condition through innovation. Together, your gifts will fund a $50,000 grant that will bring innovation to life through research, education or advanced clinical care.

RESEARCH FOCUS

An international study led by QEII cardiologist Dr. John Sapp continues to have life-changing results for Atlantic Canadians living with ventricular tachycardia (VT), a condition involving irregular heartbeat that can be life-threatening. The study was published in The New England Journal of Medicine in May 2016.

PATIENT IMPACT

The study proved that cardiac ablation (a procedure that closes short circuits in the heart) was more effective than medication for patients living with irregular heartbeat. For Marcel Arbour, this replaced taking heavy medication; dramatically impacting his quality of life.
